Editorial Policy

adulting.nyc is published by the adulting.nyc Data Desk. Software and AI may help collect public records, organize research, draft explanations, find inconsistencies, and monitor pages. AI is never treated as evidence. We identify the organization as the publisher and do not invent a human expert, credential, review, or lived experience.

For school locations, zones, programs, enrollment, and admissions, we prefer NYC Public Schools, MySchools, NYC Open Data, and NYSED. For legal, tax, health, or safety information, the relevant government agency or original professional guidance takes priority. Secondary reporting may add context but should not replace a primary source when one exists.

Each data statement should identify the period it describes. Historical enrollment is labeled as historical. Zone boundaries are labeled by school year. Admissions rules and program flags can change, so readers are directed to the current official listing for final decisions. We do not relabel old records as current merely because a page was refreshed.

A page is eligible for submission to search engines only after it meets all of these requirements:

• A clear user question the page answers better than a generic directory page
• Visible source names and data-as-of dates for factual claims
• No invented author, credential, testing, testimonial, or first-person experience
• A useful original tool, comparison, calculation, or city-specific explanation
• A canonical URL, accurate title and description, and no unresolved placeholder content

Pages that do not yet meet the gate may remain available to users, but they are excluded from the sitemap and marked not to be indexed.

Some outbound product links may be affiliate links. That commercial relationship is disclosed. Product pages may compare published specifications, price, size, portability, and intended use. We do not call a product “tested,” claim a parent consensus, or publish a first-person verdict without documented original evidence.
