About adulting.nyc
The school guide we wished existed when we needed it.
Who we are
adulting.nyc is an independent NYC parent resource for school zones, admissions, school comparisons, CPSE navigation, and practical city-family decisions. It is written and maintained by Dr. Mira Kline, a PhD-holding educator and data scientist who has navigated the NYC school system as both a professional and a parent. With a doctoral research background, years of experience in education, and firsthand encounters with 3K applications, Pre-K lotteries, G&T confusion, and the CPSE maze, this site exists because the information parents need shouldn't require a $500 consultant or 47 open browser tabs.
We combine data analysis expertise with real experience navigating the system. Every number on this site comes from official sources. Every guide was written by someone who has been through the process — not someone summarizing a DOE press release.
